Boonesfield Village in Defiance, Missouri is a living history site similar to Old Sturbridge Village outside of Boston.

The site maintains a unique partnership with Lindenwood University by housing the Boonesfield Village Campus.

Dr. Elaine C. Tillinger provides an overview of the Boonesfield Village Campus’ American Studies program and its origins at Boonesfield Village.

Students learn on site about nineteenth-century pioneer life and act as docents, clothed in period dress, and volunteers at annual events and workshops.

The National Center for the Study of American Culture and Values, established by Lindenwood University, provides classes and programming in several different aspects of pioneer life, making the subject relevant to contemporary times.
