The Association of Children’s Museums recently published Toolkit for Reimagining Children’s Museums, a 38-page guide to improving museums for young audiences and envisioning new ways of teaching, reaching, and inspiring children.

“The Toolkit represents a synthesis of the three years of ideas and questions around the Reimagining Children’s Museum project funded by MetLife Foundation,” says ACM. “It’s an invitation to imagine the future of your museum and provides areas to consider—sustainability, design, community, collaboration, change, learning, and technology—as well as processes for reimagining, and resources for further investigation.”

Topics covered include:

  • taking advantage of emerging technologies to craft meaningful experiences with wide appeal
  • fostering creative thinking to resolve problems at the museum
  • re-evaluating your museum’s design to serve new functions and reach new audiences
