The Paul Hamlyn Foundation, one of the UK’s largest independent grant-making foundations, has launched a new web resource to support the embedding of participation in museums and galleries.
The website showcases learning and case studies from Our Museum: Communities and Museums as Active Partners, a PHF program to facilitate a process of organizational change within museums and galleries committed to active partnership with their communities. The site is aimed at museums, galleries, community groups and organizations, and funding bodies wanting to understand how to embed participatory practice.
The site contains animations, films, audio-visual presentations, and downloadable documents, most captured from funded organisations in the Our Museum program or keynote speakers that inspired the group. The resources are organised into five categories:
- Governance and leadership
- Staff professional development
- Engaging with community partners
- Learning and evaluation
The Foundation will continue to create new resources for this site, based on the Our Museum program until its conclusion in March 2016.
