Trevor Jones and Linnea Grim have been presenting together on museum management topics since 2012. They believe in sharing day to day management techniques that can be used by history professionals to improve their organizations. As managers themselves, Trevor and Linnea believe management is a skill that needs to be practiced to be improved. They are the authors of the AASLH Technical Leaflet “Museum Management Tune-Up” (History News Vol. 70, No. 3).
Trevor believes management is too often a neglected skill in non-profits, and he is passionate about museum administration. He is Director of Historical Resources at the Kentucky Historical Society and manages a team of nine. He holds BA degrees in history and German from Grinnell College and a MA degree in history and Certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is a graduate of the Seminar for Historical Administration program (2009) and the AASLH Project Management for History Professionals program (2011).
As Hunter J. Smith Director of Education and Visitor Programs at Monticello, Linnea is responsible for a staff of over 100 full time and part time managers, interpreters, interns, and volunteers. During her career in the museum field, she has become passionate about effective management and leadership in the non-profit sector. Linnea earned a BA in history from the College of William and Mary and an MA in history museum studies from the Cooperstown Graduate Program. She attended the Seminar for Historical Administration in 2009.
