This article is a report of the follow up work that AASLH staff and volunteers performed with affected cultural institutions following Hurricane Katrina.

The team performed followups to assess remaining damage, check on progress for cleanup, see how many staff members were back at work, determine if they were receiving funding for repairs or conservation, and identify immediate needs that AASLH could help meet.

For some institutions, the news is good. Others may not be able to recover from the disaster.
