This video instructs and reinforces proper care and handling techniques for museum professionals and those working with fine objects and artifacts.

The storyline follows three new museum staff members as they begin working in the collections area of a mid-sized museum. Trained by a series of museum professionals and distinguished conservators, they learn proper handling methods for a variety of media; visit premier storage conditions and learn simple tips and techniques to care for collection objects.

More than just a “how-to” video, many of the subjects were included as a response to topics discussed on collection care listserves and among museum professionals worldwide.

Relevant themes include: the variety of employment opportunities in a museum, the educational background of museum staff members and the duration of onsite museum training and what it should include.
