The USS Constitution Museum in Boston recognized the opportunity to engage families with grade-school-age children.

Understanding its target audience of families caused a shift in exhibit design at the museum.

The result was the creation of a space with interactives that encouraged social interaction.

Insights from Anne Grimes Rand, Executive Vice President, Robert Kiihne, Director of Exhibits, and Sarah Watkins, Curator, show how the museum prototyped interactive exhibits for families with members of all ages.

This leaflet shows the low-cost techniques the museum implemented with tips for applying these ideas in other institutions.
