Carol Kammen receives the 2007 AASLH Award of Distinction.

Kammen is an author, scholar, and local historian, whose work has influenced communities and organizations across the country and even across the Atlantic.

Kammen is also the author of the column “On Doing Local History” which appears in the AASLH’s quarterly magazine, History News.

Carol’s research and teaching concentrates on the concept of local history, and how and why historians do what they do.

She has influenced countless individuals through her participation as workshop faculty, guest lecturer, and keynote speaker for many groups and associations.
