Creating and maintaining a blog can be a great way for an institution to reach out to new audiences and share content with a far-reaching community. The Minnesota Historical Society’s blog guidelines set parameters for staff who write blogs and those interested in how the message of the society is conveyed online.

The guidelines explain how to create a new institutional blog, the proper ways to cite and credit other sources, how to monitor and respond to comments, and provide rules all staff bloggers must follow. Also included are tips for handling negativity from online visitors.
