The Ohio Historical Society, in collaboration with Columbus City Elementary and Middle Schools, developed and implemented a local history initiative focusing on the Near East Side of Columbus.

They conducted research and identified significant people, places, and/or events in the community’s history.

They also applied for Ohio Historical Markers in the community and developed a walking tour of the neighborhood based on the markers. As part of the project students wrote reflections on their work.

The Near East Side History Project was a special project that emerged from solid partnerships and enthusiastic participants.
