In 2011 the Ohio Historical Society hosted an exhibit called Controversy: Pieces You Don’t Normally See in which objects that sparked discussion and thought from its visitors were put on display.

The pieces shown were chosen specifically for their ability to stand on their own with minimal interpretation.

The visitors were able to view the objects which all had present day relevance and conclude their own thoughts and opinions about each of them.

This type of engagement served to boost conversation and provide a unique experience for each visitor.
