In an effort to restore and remember the traditional music of its community, the Aurora Colony Historical Society has created a twenty-first century version of the Aurora Band.

This band was a key part in the formation and perpetuation of the town, and would travel miles at the request to play for celebrations and promotions. Researchers used computer generated versions of the music to analyze missing parts of newly discovered sheet music.

Additional discoveries such as photos, a list of musical selections and playbooks inspired the ACHS to solicit grant funding to help preserve and research the music so that it can be played by local musicians in celebration of their community and state.
