The Boston Public Library has served as custodian of John Adams’s Library since 1894 and recently showcased this historic collection in a landmark exhibition, John Adams Unbound.

One of the largest private libraries in America, the John Adams library remains among the few, original Revolutionary War era collections to survive intact.

The exhibition offered visitors the rare opportunity to view this priceless book collection in its entirety and provided a window to the mind and heart of the man who built and used the library throughout his active personal and political life.
