History News Volume/Issue:Volume 62, #2Cecil Poole overcame many obstacles in his life to become a U.S. Circuit Judge. Upon his death, friends and those knowledgeable about his life’s work took it upon themselves to preserve some of Poole’s personal documents and thus created the Judge Cecil Poole Biography Project.

They hoped that by preserving the papers and telling about Poole’s life story, they could inspire young people, especially children struggling with a difficult situation.

This project was the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society’s first effort at combining archival preservation, research and publication, and outreach. Additionally, it was also their first effort at expanding its audience to include youth.
