The Carroll County Wasbash and Erie Canal Association of Delphi, Indiana, received AASLH’s Albert B. Corey Award at the 2006 Leadership in History Awards. The prize recognizes excellence by a volunteer-operated historical organization.

The Carroll County Wabash and Erie Canal Association obtained land for Canal Park, relocated historical buildings to the site and restored them, constructed ten miles of walking trails, and dredged the canal. The organization has continued to expand, opening the Canal Conference and Interpretive Center in 2003.

Visitors can view and study the structural aspects of the canal system and also enjoy a rehabilitated portion of the canal itself. The volunteer run organization wishes to continue improvements and growth.
